STDS STILL ON THE RISE, REPORT SAYS
CNN article by Elizabeth Landau January 16, 2009 @ 10:46:27 AM STDs still on the rise, report says Story Highlights CDC: Women, minorities, 15- to 24-year-olds bear greatest STD burden http://www.cnn.com/2009/ MIND OVER MATTER; FIRST WORKOUT OF THE NEW YEAR Tina Schweiger January 5, 2009 @ 4:35:12 PM This morning I did 30 minutes of Yoga. and then 5 minutes of jumping rope. I feel really good about getting up to do this. In the back of my mind, I am already trying to punish myself for future days of not doing this, however, right now, I am trying to keep my focus on gratitude for the fact that, today, I did get up and do yoga and jump. I tried to make the yoga very simple. I set out to do 10 sun salutations. Pretty easy, right? Battling the mind, at home with no external motivation, not so easy. I do start with a few minutes of sitting cross legged, reciting what I have to be grateful for today. "I'm grateful for my health. I'm grateful for a great new home to live in, a supportive and wonderful business partner, a beautiful and supportive group of friends. I'm grateful for the opportunities I will be presented with today, and for the sound mind and sound heart I have to make the most of my day." For each round of two sun salutations, i added one variation. I feel too weak to do any full chattaranga or vinyasas at first, so I dont. I don't add that in until round 8 when my muscles are more willing. I love opening up my leg in the air in the downward dog because I carry so much of my stress in my belly, and that lets it all flood out. I do find myself wanting to watch the clock. I find myself wanting to keep tally of how many minutes I have been practicing. I find myself seeking my own approval for what I'm doing. Then I find myself drifting off, focusing on some situation or another that totally takes my mind off. I could easily get up, stop, and make some tea. Just relax! Wow this is taking a lot of discipline. Back to the breath, focus on the movements, keep going. Here I go. I do get complete, and add on some triangle poses for more side opening, and then try to do that thing where you squat. When I squat, my heels don't go to the ground, so I want to see if I can get my ankles to agree more. I fall over backwards. Then I do a few core strengtheners and decided that would be enough. I had been forgetting to bring my yoga mat home from work and it hurt my back. So I got up and started jumping rope. Whew! I'm feeling the holidays, stress, move, being sick, and am just trying to make 5 minutes. Yes, I know, ego, I used to be an elite level athlete. Thanks for reminding me. I do watch the clock here, I do count my jumps. 20, 49, 49, trip, trip, trip. But I make it for 5 minutes. On the nose. A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER Lance Keltner January 5, 2009 @ 4:30:40 PM Hello, My name is Lance Keltner. I am 45, nearly 46-years-old, and I have herpes. How did I contract herpes? I have no clue. All I know is that one morning I woke up with aching, burning leg muscles and sores on my lower back. Take note: I did not have sores on my private areas, but only on my back! I finally had to go to the emergency room because I was more than a little freaked out, emotionally charged, and in quite a bit of discomfort. The ER doc told me that I had herpes. What a shock! He said that herpes does not always present itself on the genitals. I had always assumed what most people assume: that this disease would present itself on the private parts and not on the lower back. Years passed, and I was told by different doctors that I had either shingles or herpes. Okay, please stop confusing me guys, I thought. Then one fateful day I had a small outbreak on my penis. Oh my, how this changed things! I had insurance at the time, so I went to my family doc and she prescribed Valtrex. Yes, I know, it sounds like the name of a spaceship captain from a sci-fi movie rather than a remedy for blisters on your privates, but at the time, I had no other options. I found that when I took the Valtrex, my outbreaks went away in about five days to a week. What I didn’t realize at the time was that my outbreaks would subside in the same amount of time if I did nothing at all! Then, after losing my insurance coverage, I discovered that a month's supply of Valtrex costs hundreds of dollars. So began my search for a more natural solution that did not drain my bank account or compromise my immune system. The Fria formula was born out of necessity – out of my desperate need to find a natural herpes treatment that would not only shorten outbreaks but also prevent them at an affordable price. After spending countless hours talking to herbalists, naturopaths, and other experts in the field of natural medicine, I finally hit on a formula that worked for me. Fria contains l-lysine, yes, but it also contains a proprietary blend of herbs dramatically reduced the frequency of outbreaks by strengthening my body's ability to fight the virus. I clearly remember the first time I tried Fria. I was in LA on a business trip when I felt that tingling sensation. I knew an outbreak was on its way. Sure enough, I woke up in my hotel room the next morning and felt a painful outbreak on my lower back and groin. I decided to try out the formula. At breakfast, I popped two l-lysine tablets and carefully mixed the herbs with water. By the next morning, my outbreak was gone! Amazing! I knew that I had discovered a magic bullet. This was a truly wonderful moment for me. Since that day three years ago, I have taken Fria each morning and have had only one minor outbreak. I doubled up on the Fria during that outbreak, and it subsided quickly. (By the way, before I discovered Fria, I was suffering from two or three outbreaks per month.) So many of us from all walks of life suffer from this virus. There is no cure, but I believe that we have found a simple, affordable way to treat herpes symptoms. I am speaking out because I am tired of the stigma associated with this disease! You are no less of a person because you have been infected with the herpes virus, just as you are no less of a person because you have been infected with a cold virus. More than 95% of Americans have some form of herpes. It is not simply an STD that affects a small group of people engaged in high-risk behavior; it affects people from all walks of life. You are just as likely to find herpes at the country club as you are the dance club. If you are not infected already, I urge you to take preventative measures to stay herpes-free. Do NOT be afraid to ask your sexual partner if they are infected, and use condoms just as you would to protect yourself from any other STD. If you are infected, please tell your sexual partner that you are carrying the herpes virus. It’s their right to know, and if we intend to stop the spread of this annoying but manageable virus, then you have the obligation to be open and honest about your condition. My best advice: Take Fria! I have found this special formulation to be very effective in preventing outbreaks, and it is reasonably priced and all natural. I hope Fria helps you as much as it has helped me. Thanks for reading my story. Sincerely, Lance Keltner ![]() ![]() ![]() |
